What does living an inspired lifestyle mean to you?

It means waking up every morning and feeling truly excited about what the day will hold. An inspired lifestyle also means living a life according to my values. For me, these include connection, authenticity, creativity and personal development.

How do you create change in your life and/or business?

I find that if the change is truly aligned with my purpose then it happens quite naturally. I’ve had so many incredible opportunities fall into my lap. However there are definitely times when change feels uneasy and painful. When this happens, I like to take a soft approach and remind myself that ‘I’m simply growing’. I find this incredibly helpful as it allows me to recognise the pain but also understand that there will be a beneficial outcome.

What challenges have you faced along the way? How have you, or are you overcoming them?

Embracing change has been incredibly difficult in the year since starting my business but I always stay on track by reminding myself of my purpose. I’d say it’s almost impossible to give up when you’re truly dedicated to your WHY.

When did you first know you were meant for something more and how did you take the leap?

It’s hard to completely pinpoint the moment as I feel like it was a series of inter-connected events that can only be recognised when you look back and connect the dots. I’m sure there are moments that I haven’t even connected yet. I’ve always had a burning desire within me and there have been so many times in my life when I have thought to myself: Is this it? Is this all that there is for me?

It wasn’t until a few rock bottom moments that I decided to start taking action with no promise or expectation of the result. It was in the seemingly small actions that I started to see change. It was never one big leap for me and I doubt it ever will be. Slow and steady is my kind of style!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

I’d silence the voices in our heads that tell us we’re not good enough. Because lady love, you totally are! If you knew that, you’d be unstoppable!

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone who is ready for more, but holding back through fear of the unknown, what would it be?

What’s the worst that could happen? Seriously, write it down! I think you’ll find that it’s not that bad. Writing your fears down really helps to put everything into perspective!

Is there a person or experience that inspired change in your life, if so who and/or what?

So, so many people who have whole-heartedly believed in me and my purpose. Too many people to name! But one moment that stands out the most was an act of kindness from my blogging bestie Elle.

I had just started a Sophie Zen Facebook Page but was very unsure about where I wanted to take it. I was definitely resisting the idea of making it a ‘business’ as opposed to a hobby. I just didn’t feel ‘official’ or ‘professional’ enough.

Then one day I got a message from someone that I had met a few months ago and stayed in contact with via social media. She had seen my Facebook Page and believed in me enough to design me a logo!

I burst into tears when I first saw it. It was absolutely perfect and in that moment, I decided I would make Sophie Zen happen! Elle is now my graphic designer, blogging bestie and creative collaborator. Our businesses have very much grown alongside each other and I will never, ever change my logo. It stands for so much!

What are your top 3 ways to stay inspired?

1. Change of scenery. Going somewhere new or taking my laptop and working in a different location!

2. Reading, especially fiction!

3. Cleaning the house, seriously! Once I’ve switched my brain off, creativity flows!

What is one thing people don’t know about you (it can be something fun, a fear, or something close to your heart – whatever you would like to share)?

I’ve always dreamed of writing a novel, probably a memoir. I can definitely feel a book in me so keep an eye out in the new few years!

Highlights Reel:

I absolutely loved connecting with Sophie and getting to know all of these beautiful insights into her life, passions + beliefs. A couple of my biggest takeaways were:

  • I really loved when Soph was talking about change being truly aligned with her purpose it happening naturally. A great reminder to check in and notice if something is feeling really hard, is it fully aligned with you?
  • When sophie spoke about her ‘big leap’ it is actually small steps that work for her and knowing that has allowed her to get where she is today. Congrats lady!
  • I must say I smiled at ‘cleaning the house’ as a way to stay inspired (it def isn’t one of mine) but totally agree about stepping away and giving your mind, body and soul time out to up the creativity vibes 🙂

I’d love to hear what your biggest takeaways or inspirations were from Sophie’s interview? Please share away in the comments below.
