What does living an inspired lifestyle mean to you?
To me it means living a life that you’ve created, shaped and moulded it to just what you need in your life. It means getting up and in the morning and smiling because it’s a beautiful day in my life. It’s great to be able to inspire someone else with what you’re doing but the biggest and most beautiful thing I’ve found is having the ability to inspire yourself with your work, your friends your family and your every day life. Being able to be so inspired and full of life means that you get more from it and you wake up in the morning with a sense of joy and happiness.
How do you create change in your life and/or business?
I’m a writer and my biggest hurdle is learning how to deal with my Inner Editor. She’s speaks up whenever I’m writing to try and make sure that I play small with my writing. I’ve learned to dull her voice and I can write without hearing her incessant chatter. I help my clients learn how to turn down their Inner Editors to help them get through their writing. It’s such a big part in the mentality of a writer, self-doubt and our Inner Editors try to make sure that fear keeps us back.
What challenges have you faced along the way?
The biggest challenge I’ve had to face is learning how to deal with my perfectionism and how to be gentle with myself. My dad passed away suddenly in 2014 and I’ve had to learn how to grieve and how to take the time to take care of myself and learn how to be creative through the blocks. And those creative blocks were mega, I’m still feeling the aftershocks now but I have since learned how to make them work for the better.
When did you first know you were meant for something more and how did you take the leap?
I was 23 and I knew that I had things out there that were just waiting for me to make the go. I picked up and moved from my safety net in Adelaide with my parents and moved to Melbourne where I studied and learned about my passion and craft (writing) and I knew that it was exactly what I needed to grow and really fly. Since then I’ve done nothing but stampede my way through my life, making things up as I go and educating myself to better help my clients and myself.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Oh wow, this is such a loaded question. Where to even start? I know that there is one thing that gets me and I hate seeing people in pain. I wish I could show the world that they don’t need to suffer and be in pain. I wonder if everyone sat down for a good session where they talk out their feelings or write them out, if they would find a sense of relief and be able to live a life free of pain and suffering.
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone who is ready for more but holding back through fear of the unknown, what would it be?
Just jump. The fear is there to stop you from really learning what you need and keeping you safe. You need to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone to learn what you need.
Is there a person or experience that inspired change in your life, if so who and/or what?
Moving away from home and learning how to fend for myself in a different city and learn about myself and who I really was has been the biggest experience that has inspired change in my life. I constantly find things that don’t feel right in my life and try to shift them to make them work for me.
What are your top 3 ways to stay inspired?
Ahh exercise, writing and beautiful conversations with the amazing ladies and guys in my life. I always feel rejuvenated when I can do all of these while maintaining my introvert state too.
What is one thing people don’t know about you (it can be something fun, a fear, or something close to your heart – whatever you would like to share)?
I love to dance in my apartment when I’m alone, I pump up the music and do a dance that makes my cat run for the hills.
I absolutely loved connecting with Mandi and getting to know all of these beautiful insights into her life and business. A couple of my biggest takeaways were:
- Mandi’s definition of living an inspired lifestyle was so beautiful and real. (hell yeah)
- Hearing a little about what Mandi has been going through and how she is getting through it is so inspiring and such a great reminder to keep taking steps no matter what is going on in your life.
- Also how Mandi would change the world by taking away others pain and suffering – that is such a powerful choice.
I’d love to hear what your biggest takeaways or inspirations were from Mandi’s interview? Please share away in the comments below.
