The Everyday Inspiring women who are creating change in the world in a small or BIG way through their vision, lifestyle, and business.
Today’s Change Maker is the beautiful and big hearted Kristy Fox who is one of the co-founders of Circle Movement.
Kristy and I first connected by chance, or rather what I believe was the universe working her magic. A snap taken at one of my fave local cafe’s was the beginning of a special friendship (one of the blessings social media can bring). Since then I have had the pleasure of getting to know this incredibly kind, generous and inspiring woman and seeing the work that her and the other beautiful women of circle movement create. They are the reminder of what can happen when women unite.
I am so excited to share this amazing woman with you and let her uplift and inspire you through her experiences + insights. Please welcome the lovely Kristy Fox…
What does living an inspired lifestyle mean to you?
An inspired lifestyle is the feeling I get when I’m doing the right thing at the right time. For me it means living for something that makes me want to jump out of bed each morning, Circle Movement does that. It’s knowing I’m running in my lane, I’ve connected with my purpose. Having said that an inspired lifestyle doesn’t happen by accident, it requires equal parts passion and hard work.
How do you create change in your life and/or business?
Change requires a push. It often means summoning and channelling an unusual amount of energy in a new direction. Change is never easy, but it’s most always worth it.
What challenges have you faced along the way? How have you, or are you overcoming them?
The challenge to keep going. As much as I love Circle Movement, every six months or so I’m tempted by what I call; the lure of the normal. It usually passes in a couple of days, but it’s a strong urge at the time.
When did you first know you were meant for something more and how did you take the leap?
Always. I’ve always wanted to make a difference for as long as I can remember. I didn’t have an ‘aha’ moment as such, nor did I take a leap. I’ve constantly listened and followed my heart from an early age.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Myself. There’s a saying that goes; everyone wants to change the world, but nobody wants to change themselves. I think if we all strived to be more compassionate, more selfless, more understanding the world would like completely different. So, I’m just going to work on me first.
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone who is ready for more, but holding back through fear of the unknown, what would it be?
Just get started. Do something! Anything. If you are stuck in a rut the best things you can do is take a step in the general direction of your dream. I love the quote; “She acquires momentum as she advances.” Momentum requires movement. You don’t have to have the full journey signposted, just take one small step.
Is there a person or experience that inspired change in your life, if so who and/or what?
Oprah & reading the book Half the Sky.
What are your top 3 ways to stay inspired?
- Connecting with inspiring people on a regular basis
- Continually reading, learning & listening to podcasts
- Practising quiet, soul time
What is one thing people don’t know about you (it can be something fun, a fear, or something close to your heart – whatever you would like to share)?
I’m an only child
I absolutely loved connecting with Kristy and getting to know all of these beautiful insights into her life, passions + beliefs. A couple of my biggest takeaways were:
- I loved Kristy’s definition of an inspired lifestyle – equal parts passion and hard work!!!
- What a wonderful concept Kristy brought up in that the one thing she would change in the world is herself. If we all focused inwards a little more, the ripple effect of change would be amazing.
- I also love that Oprah is one of Kristy’s Inspirations. Me too lady!!!
I’d love to hear what your biggest takeaways or inspirations were from Kristy’s interview? Please share away in the comments below.
Kristy Fox, Co-founder of Circle Movement believes that kindness rules, babies ought to sleep 12 hours at night (from birth), iced coffee should be consumed daily and that global poverty should only be found in the history books.
Upon completing a Bachelor of Development Studies, majoring in Cultures and Citizenship, Kristy worked for World Vision before dreaming up ‘Women Walk for Water’- a 6 kilometre walk to show solidarity to the thousands of women around the world who walk this distance daily to access clean water. Before long Circle Movement was born.
Circle Movement is network for women changemakers, radical dreamers and spirited doers who wish to make the world a more just and ethical place.
On any given day you will find Kristy kid wrangling her two beautiful daughters, dreaming up Circle projects, designing pretty things, swimming in the ocean and trawling op shops.
