What does living an inspired lifestyle mean to you?

An inspired lifestyle means being 100% true to you. It means being curious and paying attention to what grabs your attention, what you love, what makes you feel great. Plus all the things that don’t.

It’s finding a balance between contentment and gratitude plus always looking for more. Growing. Transforming. Searching. But always from a place of love.

As the wonderful Tanya Geisler says, ‘You can be grateful and want more (preferably
in that order). I love that.

How do you create change in your life and/or business?

Well, my introverted tendencies mean I’m not too big a fan of change. I like to know what’s going to happen and how things go. Routine and consistency are really important to me surprises, not so much.

But, I realise the importance of change and growth and being able to adapt. So I do it in
small stages. I look at the bigger picture (that scares the pants off me) and then I break it
right down and start with the first step, or the smallest, least scary thing. Then you take the next step, then the next, then the next. Suddenly, you’re well on your way but in a much
more manageable way!

What challenges have you faced along the way?

Oh gosh, so many! It’s part of the ride though, isn’t it? And I think that’s one of the things that we’re all getting better at sharing the reality. I think people are sick of the glossy appearance of the online world. It doesn’t really serve anyone and I think being honest and real is definitely important.

One of the things that really challenged me, especially early in my business, was watching others and comparing. Thinking I would never be as good or as successful as the people who were out there. But when I found the thing I really wanted to do and WHY, I stopped worrying so much about ‘everyone else’. I was able to focus on my message and my community, instead of looking outwards and it’s been such a wonderful shift in my business (and my life).

When did you first know you were meant for something more and how did you take the leap?

Ummm…that’s an interesting question and not something I think I really ever planned. I’ve always been a quiet achiever and that had its advantages and disadvantages at school and
in my career working in reality TV. Mostly it meant I worked really hard and mostly got overlooked!

I think I just got fed up with that, in the end.

I sort of fell down a rabbit hole (yep, like Alice) and found myself here. It was never in my plan, it just sort of happened. But never have I been told I’m too quiet or I don’t have the personality to have my own business something I felt I was constantly being told in my old career.

I take that as a pretty good sign that my persistence and patience and ability to work quietly means I can stick it out. But the fact that I’ve found something I really, truly care about has helped me to gain momentum and speaks for me so I don’t always have to!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

That humans weren’t so quick to judge and could accept people because of their differences (not even just tolerating, but actually embracing that). If you’re quiet, or a woman, or have different coloured skin, or sexual orientation, it would make me so happy if we could curiously embrace each other, instead of fight and judge and oppress.

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone who is ready for more but holding back through fear of the unknown, what would it be?

LIFE is unknown. Seriously, we try and control how life pans out. We try and fix the outcomes. But the truth is that we don’t really have any say in the end result. All we can control is the choices we make. That’s it.

Every achievement is a series of small steps there’s no magic pill or secret formula.

But if you feel called to do something, do it for that reason! Let go of the outcome. Take the pressure off yourself by realising you have no say in that. And just take action because you can’t not.

Is there a person or experience that inspired change in your life, if so who and what?

Oh so many! A friend of mine, who is one of those amazing, gorgeous, talented singer/songwriter/artist/jewellery maker you know, just one of those people who is epically talented and creative. I used to put her on a bit of a pedestal and one day she told me that I’d changed her life.

By popping up and recommending some things to her over the course of a year, she’d made some huge changes in the trajectory of her life. I learned that I might be an introvert, I might be a total geek but to never underestimate the quiet impact you can have on another person’s life.

What are your top 3 ways to stay inspired?

Remembering my why. The day I realised what that was, I burst into tears. It made what I do bigger than me. So if I’m having an off day, or feeling particularly lazy, I always come back to why I’m doing this and it’s like an inspiration injection!

I read. I’m a lifelong learner and I kind of just absorb books. There’s so much noise out there, it’s nice to be able to get really quiet and just listen to one voice.

My inner circle. I have a very small group of friends who I talk to about ideas and plans and business stuff. It’s great for when you’re feeling a bit low in energy to be able to talk your thoughts out and share and support each other.

What is one thing people don’t know about you (it can be something fun, a fear, or something close to your heart – whatever you would like to share)?

I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was about 23. I never drank it through uni or even my first year working nights on Big Brother. I actually hated it and had no intention of ever drinking it.
